As I was flipping through an old Martha Stewart magazine last night, I came across her May calendar. The entry for today says to “stock upon white and rosè wine for warm-weather entertaining.”
Darn it … I knew I was forgetting something. (Yeah right.) As far as summer entertaining goes, I’m lucky to get to the grocery store the day before the event. And even then, I usually have to send my husband back for whatever I forgot.
If you’re more like me than Martha, it’s good to have some go-to grape juice. Here are five whites for less than $15 that won’t let you down (in no particular order):
Cara Mia Pinot Grigio (Italy)
Fresh, bright, pure with citrus fruit flavors
Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand)
Crisp, lively, refreshing with grapefruit and tropical fruit flavors
Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut (Spain)
Bubbly, crisp, clean, balanced with apple, pear and citrus flavors
Mohua Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand)
Lively, crisp, dry, refreshing with grapefruit flavors
Delatour Chardonnay (France)
Gentle, flowers, apples, pears (no oak, thank goodness … more on that later)
Do you have a favorite? Let me know – I would love to add it to my list!
